Justice Dept. probing Alaska ballot with two candidates named Dan Sullivan
A criminal investigation is underway in Alaska into how two Senate candidates named Dan Sullivan ended up on the same ballot. U.S. Attorney Michael Heyman said Friday the probe received a surge of law enforcement resources following a New York Times report that Democrat Mary Peltola's campaign appears to have recruited retired teacher Dan J. Sullivan to divert votes from Republican incumbent Dan Sullivan. Both the Peltola campaign and the retired teacher deny the claim.1
The Justice Department is seeking to separate ballots ranking the retired teacher in case an investigation into voter confusion is needed after Election Day.1
