What happened

The San Juan River in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, a town of about 2,000, crested at 16.81 feet on Sunday, flooding downtown streets, lifting a home from its foundation, and collapsing a road bridge west of town. More than 20 trillion gallons of rain fell across the Four Corners states and Nevada. Officials said cleanup and repair efforts could take weeks, and evacuation orders remained in place as first responders continued searching for stranded residents.1
