What happened

The U.S. Supreme Court granted New Hampshire's request late Thursday to fully block the use of student IDs for midterm voting. The order followed Gov. Kelly Ayotte's signing of HB 323 in April, which eliminated student IDs as acceptable voter identification. The Coalition for Open Democracy said the decision will deprive young voters of their right to vote, leaving them without government-issued ID absent DMV appointments, fees, vouchers, or trips to multiple offices before Election Day.1
