“Virginia NAACP says you don’t have to talk to DOJ election monitors if you don’t want to”, Friday, October 30, 2026
What happened
The Virginia NAACP told voters that they are not required to speak to Department of Justice election monitors on Election Day. Anthony Ashton, Senior Associate General Counsel of the National NAACP, said monitors should not approach voters before they have cast their ballots. A DOJ spokesperson said earlier this week that observers will be present in all 50 states to observe and report potential law violations, not to interfere.1
Election Day is next Tuesday.1
