What happened

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier and Governor Ron DeSantis announced October 18, 2026 that a statewide election integrity operation charged 20 defendants with voting fraud tied to Florida elections including the 2024 General Election. Sixteen are non-citizens who falsely claimed citizenship to register and vote. Four are convicted felons who registered and voted while on probation.1

Investigations were triggered by immigration-status reviews and federal database checks confirming ineligibility.1
