What happened

Antrim County Clerk Victoria Bishop, a Republican elected in 2024, took steps to remove more than 1,600 of the county's 21,000 registered voters from the rolls, sometimes on inaccurate grounds. Local election officials and the Michigan Bureau of Elections intervened, saying her actions failed to comply with state law. In several cases Bishop warned residents, including Elk Rapids village council member Barb Mullaly, that they faced losing their county registration because they had moved or stopped voting, though Mullaly had done neither.1
