North Carolina officials detailed ballot security measures
Election officials in North Carolina and two neighboring states described security protocols used to protect ballots.
Election officials across South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia detailed the security measures they use to protect ballots and ensure transparency ahead of the polls. South Carolina State Board of Elections director Conway Belangia described a chain of custody system with bipartisan monitoring at every stage, saying ballots are checked repeatedly, sealed and secured behind locked doors at county central areas. North Carolina officials confirmed similar bipartisan oversight and noted that none of the voting systems in any of the three states are connected to the internet or telephone lines.1
