Cuyahoga County officials debunked false claim about poll workers marking ballots

The claim, spreading through texts and posts, alleged that a poll worker writing any symbol such as a star, R, or D on a ballot would invalidate it. Perlatti said no poll worker is trained to write on ballots and that a pen mark would not disqualify a ballot run through a vote counting machine. Perlatti said the claim has appeared in other states but he did not know how widespread it was across Ohio.¹
