DHS Secretary said administration would collect voting logs to find noncitizens
A federal official announced plans to examine voter data after the 2026 election.
On November 3, 2026, hours before polls closed, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said the Trump administration would collect voting logs after the election to identify noncitizen voters. Mullin made the announcement on Fox News, saying DHS would examine voter registers and all those who voted. Mullin did not say how the administration would gain access to that data.1
The DOJ had previously demanded unredacted voter rolls from states, lost every lawsuit seeking those files, and most states refused to comply. Mullin did not specify whether the administration would seek warrants to seize ballots or voting machines.1
