What happened
A federal judge ruled that the Department of Justice has no right to state voter roll data and barred it from using data already received from 18 states. The judge said states themselves may still run their rolls through SAVE. The ruling, if it stands, could complicate the administration's separate effort to build a national citizenship list, which is the subject of its own lawsuit.1
