What happened

Someone sent misleading pro-Republican text messages to Arizona voters ahead of the November election, falsely presenting a list of Republican candidates as an official independent voter guide. The texts promoted Andy Biggs, Alexander Kolodin, Warren Petersen, Kimberly Yee, and Jay Feely, and appeared to target voters in Legislative District 4 and Congressional District 1. A second message misused the KJZZ logo to target Democrat Teresa Leyba Ruiz in the superintendent race.1
