What happened

Riviera Beach declared a state of emergency after days of heavy rain flooded streets and homes in the Lone Pine community, displacing residents. Resident Luz Ortiz, who has lived in the community for 21 years, called it a disaster, and another resident said water was waist-high just to reach their home. St. Lucie, Indian River, and Martin counties also declared states of emergency.1
