Michigan Secretary of State office representatives spoke at an MSU Latino outreach event Thursday to address student voting concerns ahead of the midterm elections. Luz Meza, Deputy Chief of Staff for Secretary of State Joselyn Benson, and Mika McAskill, Director of Public Engagement, attended the Club Spartan event hosted by Latino Leaders in Policy and partner organizations. The representatives clarified absentee ballot procedures, voter registration at campus addresses, and two ballot proposals on constitutional revision and campaign finance.1

Students were directed to MI.gov/vote to confirm their registration status.1

Voters can register in person at their city or township clerk's office up to 8 p.m. on Election Day, and online or by mail by Monday October 19, 2026.2 Absentee applications must reach the clerk by 5 p.m. on Friday October 30, 2026 by mail or online, or by 4 p.m. on Monday November 2, 2026 in person.2 Early voting runs from Saturday October 24 through Sunday November 1, 2026.2
