Voting advocates seek immediate block to policy that compiled voter lists

Voting advocates filed a motion Thursday seeking an immediate block to the Trump administration's Voter Data Transmission Policy, which compiles lists the DOJ claims identify likely noncitizen voters. The League of Women Voters, filing on behalf of all plaintiffs, argues the policy has produced demonstrably unreliable lists. The lists have already been used to demand that tens of thousands of California ballots be set aside, with U.S. District Judge David Carter this week ruling against that demand.1
The motion for a temporary restraining order was filed four days before Election Day.1
